Emily Gumal

Managing Editor

Emily Gumal is one of the Managing Editors for Metal Magazine. She is a sophomore double-majoring in English and Creative Writing with a Publishing Track and Dance with Honors. She loves reading and writing and has gotten short stories published in both Ink Lit Mag Fall 2018 and Spring 2019.

Nichole Shaw

Designer

Nichole Shaw is one of the designers for Metal Magazine. She is a third-year studying journalism and English on the publishing track. When she's not writing, reading, or editing work from the various publications she's involved in, you can catch her laying in bed watching Criminal Minds or overdressing to events.

Jennifer Eikre

Managing Editor

Jenny Eikre is one of the managing editors for Metal Magazine. She is a second-year (almost third-year) transfer student studying English and creative writing on the publishing track. When she's not writing or studying, she enjoys drinking tea and listening to the true crime podcast Cult Liter or writing for the vegan magazine Herbivore Times, which she interns for.

Kaylin Butterfield

Designer

Kaylin Butterfield is one of the designers for Metal Magazine. She is a double major in English with a publishing track and Art with an emphasis in graphic design/animation and a minor in Chinese. In her free time she hangs out with friends and reads/paints for personal interests.

Rocco Romano

Nonfiction Editor

Rocco Romano is one of the Nonfiction Editors for Metal Magazine. He is a third-year student majoring in English and creative writing on the publishing track, with minors in Latin and classics. He enjoys writing and reading Fantasy and Science-Fiction stories and has a deep fascination with languages, mythology, and theology.

Emily Engwall is one of the Nonfiction editors for Metal Magazine. She is a junior studying English (publishing track) and Communications Studies. When she’s not reading she can probably be found singing with the Hawkapellas

Anna Ellis

Copyeditor

Anna Ellis is a second-year English/Creative Writing major on the publishing track, with minors in mass communications and German, and one of two copyeditors for Metal Mag. When not writing, Anna can be found playing quidditch or creating a podcast.

Rebekah Hallman

Poetry Editor

Rebekah Hallman is one of the poetry editors for Metal Magazine! She is a second-year studying English/Creative Writing on the Publishing Track, with a minor in GWSS. When she isn't writing, Rebekah enjoys painting and taking care of her cactus son Bubba.

Angela Stansbery is one of the designers for Metal Magazine. She’s a second year double majoring in Creative writing and Journalism. Besides writing, she also loves all things music and playing soccer.

Ray Janus is one of the poetry editors for Metal Mag. They're majoring in English Creative Writing, Spanish, and Russian. Besides learning languages, writing, reading, and hiking are a few of their favorite hobbies, especially if there's a cup of coffee on hand.

Madison Coleman

Senior Editor

Madison Coleman is one of the Senior Editors of Metal Magazine! She’s a second-year student studying English and Creative Writing with a Publishing Track. When she’s not busily typing away on her laptop, she’s talking about everything Disney-related or binge-watching her favorite shows, like FRIENDS, on Netflix.

This is Emma Scintu, one of our poetry editors. She is a senior English and Creative Writing major on a Publishing track. Outside of writing she can be found traveling on the weekends, or exploring new places in Iowa City.

Alex Escalada is one of the senior editors for Metal Magazine; He is a second-year studying music performance, English, Latino studies, and Portuguese. He enjoys embarrassing himself and not getting enough sleep and he gets a thrill from shopping at Costco and eating Thai food.

Abigail Davis is a fiction editor for Metal Magazine. She is a senior majoring in English and Creative Writing with a publishing track. In her free time, Abigail enjoys reading, attempting to be social, and binge-watching Grey's Anatomy.

Kelli Spaur is one of the people responsible for Public Relations for Metal Magazine. She is a third-year student studying English on the publishing track. When Kelli is not scrolling through social media, she can be found anywhere that has books, coffee, and a good turkey panini.

Chance Bodart

Assistant Editor

Chance Bodart is the Assistant Editor of Metal Magazine. He’s a second-year student studying English. When he isn’t fervently debating the ethics of Captain America, Chance can be found listening to metal music of all varieties.

Scott Perkins

Scott Perkins is a fiction editor for Metal Magazine. He is a senior and is an English and Creative Writing major. In his free time, he enjoys getting immersed a good story.
